Never let me go audiobook11/19/2022 ![]() ![]() Children being scolded not to play rough, becouse they could damage something important. It's the smallest moments in the book that have the strongest reaction from me. ![]() Kathy holding a doll and singing the titular title song, imagining a baby she'll never have. Ruth going through every magazine hoping to see her face. Tommy being scolded for being bad at art. In the end they were all little tragedies. To see what thry life she could have had was like. More than anything she wanted to find her doner. All her actions really upset me, especially they way she kept Kathy and Tommy apart.īut I think in any other book she would have the protagonist. I loved how there such a focus on the art thry were doing, as if even the staff wanted them to have some other purpose in life than just being clones for organ harvesting.Īt the time of reading I really hated Ruth. She knows one day they'll just killed, one organ at a time. The teacher is upset becouse she cares about her students and can't be impartial. Of course all the kids know that.īut that's the scene that really sets in that they arnt normal children. Then the new or assistant teacher loses it. The part I remember most is when they were still at school and the kids were all talking about how they were going to be actors or go to Hollywood. I read the book in highschool and it really stuck with me too. I am just conforming to until I complete my cycle.īut yeah the realization that this is the world is what is most saddening to me. I will never get to experience love and live my life fully. I don't know how to add a spoiler tag so I have to stop here lol.Īnother thing it made me feel was that I'm just like them, or worse. We are too tired and horrified if we think too much about those things. Things don't change if the world doesn't want to change. The has to be a collective change, and this book just shows the reality. we are saddened, because what the societal conscience dictates isn't changed by one person. Things go on, and we sometimes can imagine consequences, others we know them in a very real way, others we feel they are still starting, but very similar to what the world in the book shows. We know the world isn't going to listen to us, and we are just a prey if we are dissident. We know that one, two people have no strenght to change it. ![]() We remember the things that we "know" aren't going to change. We are horrified and saddened by how easily we accept anything - we are saddened to be reminded of it. This is exactly the feeling the book conveys. ![]()
